Run-DMC x adidas: Celebrating a Hip-Hop Icon. Since Run-DMC’s 1986 hit “My Adidas” turned the Superstar sneaker into a hip-hop essential, the legendary Queens rap group and the German sportswear giant have been deeply connected. Over the years, they’ve collaborated on multiple special collections, including a unique sneaker set and retro-inspired apparel in 2020 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Superstar. The collection was introduced through a lookbook shot in front of a Jam Master Jay mural in Hollis, Queens—the group’s hometown. At its core are two Superstar 50 models in classic white-black and black-white colorways. While these are the most iconic Superstar variations, the new designs are distinguished by Run-DMC logos on the side, tongue, and insole. The white pair features a red heel, while the black pair pays tribute to the late Jam Master Jay, showcasing his portrait on the tongue. True to Run-DMC’s signature style, each pair comes laceless and includes chunky ‘80s-style hip-hop laces.
